Shade 9 The Skin Window

Joint movements are applied to control points of curved surfaces and polygon meshes, disks, spheres, extruded line objects, extruded disks, revolved line objects, revolved disks, and the centers of point lights and spot Lights.

To open the Skin window choose VIew > Skin.

Bind Button

Click the Bind button to automatically apply joints in the immediate vicinity of selected control points.

Clear Button

All effects on selected control points are cleared. Clicking this button while holding down the ctrl or Z button (Win) / option (Mac) will clear effects from all control points, including those control points that are not selected.

Active Button

This will scroll the control point list to display the first selected control point.

Scope Pull-down Menu

This is used to select joints to be bound. When None is chosen, neighboring joints will be bound.

Note: When you copy/cut and paste, or export/import an object bound to a joint, the bindings in the Skin window are retained.

Note: The Joint Blend function is provided to blend the degree of incidence of joints in upper and lower hierarchies when using the Bind function. For example, you can blend the degree of intersection inside the skin around a joint when a bone is bent.

Control Point List

This list displays all control points on objects that are indicated as selected in the Browser window.

The list has numbers running down the left side of the Skin window.

Joint List

This list shows joints applied to all selected control points. The joint list is on the right side of the control point list.

Joint Pull-down Menu

This menu shows the joints that can be applied to all the selected control points.

Applicable Joint Value Slider

Adjusts the application rate of joints for each control point.
